Inflate-a-Balloon Soda

Ingredients ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda White distilled vinegar Balloon (12” or larger) 2-liter plastic bottle, empty Funnel Directions Pour ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda into your balloon, filling the balloon halfway. Use the funnel to pour vinegar into the water bottle, filling about ⅓ of the bottle. Cover the top of the bottle with the bottom of the balloon. When ready, lift the balloon and let the ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda fall into the vinegar. Watch as the mixture fizzes, bubbles, and inflates your balloon!

Crystals Soda

Ingredients ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda Food coloring Glasses or jars (2) Plate Spoon Steel nails (2) Hot tap water Piece of yarn or cotton string, about 6 in. long Directions Place the 2 glasses on opposite ends of a large plate, leaving space between them. Fill each glass with hot tap water. Add 2 tablespoons of ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda to each glass and stir. If all the Baking Soda dissolves, add more Baking Soda until the water cannot dissolve it anymore, indicating that the mixture is saturated. Add a few drops of food coloring if you’d like your crystals to be colorful. Tie a nail to each end of the string/yarn and drop 1 nail into each glass. Let the string dangle a bit (like a smiley shape) between the glasses but not so much that the string touches the plate. Watch the string over the next few days as the colorful crystals grow!

Glow Slime Soda

Ingredients 1 ½ tablespoons ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda 12 oz. glue (regular or glow in the dark) 2 tablespoons saline contact lens solution (or more, as needed) Storage container Washable glitter paint (optional) Beads, nonadhesive gemstones, and glitter (glow-in-the-dark optional) Directions Pour 12 oz. of glue into the storage container. Add 1 ½ tablespoons of ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda. Mix well. Add a few drops of washable glitter paint (this won’t stain your hands like other paint would). Add more until it reaches the desired color. Add 2 tablespoons of saline contact lens solution–add more as needed until your slime is at the desired consistency. Add beads, nonadhesive gemstones and glitter as desired until you have your own glow in the dark slime. To ensure your slime glows bright, let it sit in indirect sunlight and “charge” for 15-20 minutes.

Keepsake Soda

Ingredients 1 ¼ cups ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda ¾ cup cornstarch ¾ cup water Parchment or wax paper Rolling pin or flat object (such as a plate) Straw Small paintbrush White glue Glitter Ribbon Clear sealant (optional) Directions In a pot, mix clay ingredients (ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda, cornstarch, and water) together and set on the stove over medium heat. When the clay turns into a soft texture, like mashed potatoes, remove pot from heat to keep from drying out. Remove the clay from the pot and cover with a damp cloth to cool for 15 minutes. Once the clay is cooled, roll between two pieces of parchment paper to create a round of clay that is about 1 centimeter thick (any thicker and they tend to crack easily) and large enough to fit your child’s hand (or dog’s paw!). Press child’s hand firmly into the clay disc. Use a straw to put two holes above the handprint for the ribbon. To decorate with glitter, use a paintbrush to paint glue over clay. Tap the ornament to remove excess glitter. (Optional) When the ornament is completely dry, spray with a sealant or coat in Mod Podge to ensure that it stays intact. Thread the ribbon through the holes you made in the ornament, tie the two ends together, and enjoy your masterpiece!

Dino Eggs Soda

Ingredients 1 x 4lb box of ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda (makes 8-10 eggs) Miniature dinosaur toys A large bowl Water Vinegar Food coloring (optional) Spray bottle for vinegar (optional) Directions Add ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda to the bowl. If desired, add several drops of food coloring. Slowly add water in small amounts and mix until the desired consistency is reached; mixture should be damp and mold-able but not too wet. Place some dough in your hand, then lay the dinosaur toy on top. Cover the dinosaur with more baking soda mixture and then form it into an egg shape, tightly securing the dinosaur inside. Lay your dino eggs on a baking sheet to dry overnight. Chip away at the egg or use vinegar to dissolve the shell. Watch them hatch!
